Positive and empathetic, Dr. Elizabeth Crandon has a passion for working with patients of all ages - especially those who struggle in school, work, or life because of visual difficulties. She has worked extensively with patients who experience learning difficulties due to visual dysfunction, as well as those with brain injuries and special needs. Dr. Elizabeth has practiced in downtown Lawrence with her husband, Dr. Brent, since 1989. Over the years, she has dedicated her life to her practice, community and most importantly, her family. The Crandons have three daughters who have all contributed to the wellbeing of the practice.
Dr. Crandon grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1985 with a Bachelors of Science in neurobiology. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1989 from the University of Houston College of Optometry. In 2008, she completed a fellowship from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). She is currently one of six optometrists in the state of Kansas who is board certified in developmental vision and vision therapy.
Dr. Brent Crandon enjoys treating patients of all ages with care and enthusiasm. Since 1999, he been taking his optometric skills abroad with VOSH, Voluntary Optometric Service to Humanity. He has also traveled regularly to Latin America, serving those who have no access to eye care or eyewear.
Dr. Crandon has practiced in downtown Lawrence since 1989, with his wife, Dr. Elizabeth. He is originally from Derby, Kansas. Dr. Crandon graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelors in biology in 1985. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1989.
His other interests are his church, St. John the Evangelists Catholic Church, and sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. He speaks some Spanish and welcomes bilingual patients.
The Drs. Crandon are members of the Kansas Optometric Association (KOA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA).
